National Institutes of Health Clinical Center selects E-Structors to manage secure destruction of paper documents

Secure Destruction Capabilities Among Key Factors in NIH Decision

Elkridge, MD – April 13, 2009 – E-Structors, specializing in the secure destruction and recycling of computers, electronics and documents, announced today it has been awarded a contract by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to manage the secure removal and destruction of all paper documents from The Warren Grant Magnuson Clinical Center in Bethesda, Md. According to its Web site, the Warren Grant Magnuson Clinical Center is the nation's largest hospital devoted entirely to clinical research.

Blending the highest levels of security in the mid-Atlantic region with more than 20 years of waste management experience, E-Structors will transport paper documents from The Warren Grant Magnuson Clinical Center to its state-of-the-art document shredding facility located in Howard County, one of Maryland's most noted areas for environmental initiatives.

"Our engagement with NIH solidifies our standing as one of the most advanced, most secure document destruction companies in the mid-Atlantic," explains Mike Keough, president of
E-Structors. "Sensitive materials – regardless if they are in a paper form or electronic – need to be handled by qualified professionals or the risk of critical and personal data falling into the wrong hands increases."

Immediately following the engagement with NIH, E-Structors invested nearly $25,000 in equipment to ensure all data from The Warren Grant Magnuson Clinical Center remains secure.

Ensuring security on every level, E-Structors monitors its 95,000 square foot facility through a 40-camera video surveillance system and uses entry/access control systems at each entry/exit point. Each and every process is documented with a Certificate of Destruction from E-Structors and clients are encouraged to view the process during site tours or videotaped records.

In addition to on-site security, E-Structors utilizes locked and bar-coded containers that are tracked from site departure, arrival and destruction in its secure fleet of trucks. What's more,
E-Structors keeps strict adherence to government privacy and liability legislation including Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPPA); the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA); the Sarbanes-Oxley Act; Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA); and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA).
