E-Structors honored with "Celebration of Excellence Award" from the ARC of Howard County

Electronics Recycler Recognized for Providing Employment for Adults with Disabilities

Elkridge, MD – May 22, 2009 – E-Structors, specializing in the secure destruction and recycling of computers, electronics and documents, announced today that it has received a “Celebration of Excellence Award” from The Arc of Howard County, an organization committed to achieving full community life for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. E-Structors was recognized for providing employment opportunities for adults with disabilities.

After being approached by an employment specialist from The Arc of Howard County inquiring about the possibility of E-Structors employing a person supported by The Arc, company President Mike Keough and CEO Julie Keough opened their electronics recycling facility to the specialist to determine what role would be best suited for The Arc program. A position preparing obsolete remote controls for recycling was customized for the individual. In addition to welcoming The Arc employment program participant to their staff, the Keough’s reached out to The Arc to provide educational training to promote awareness for all of their employees.

E-Structors’ support of The Arc of Howard County is just one example of the company’s commitment to providing job opportunities to people with special needs. In addition to its work with The Arc, E-Structors also participates in an employment program for students of the Linwood Center, which services children and adults with Autism.
