Michael Keough Recognized for Vision, Excellence, Innovation and Growth

ELKRIDGE, MD – November 18, 2008 – E-Structors, specializing in the secure destruction and recycling of computers, electronics and documents, announced today that its president, Michael Keough was named the “Entrepreneur of the Year” by the Greater Washington Board of Trade at a November 13 luncheon at the Mayflower Hotel in DC.

Awarded annually to celebrate outstanding small business leaders in the Greater Washington area, the Greater Washington Board of Trade “Entrepreneur of the Year” honor recognizes a business leader who has demonstrated vision, excellence and innovation resulting in company growth while exhibiting a reputation of integrity and proven involvement in Greater Washington’s business and civic communities.

Keough was chosen for guiding E-Structors’ rapid climb to being one of the largest electronics recyclers in the mid-Atlantic area. Based in Elkridge, Md., E-Structors has experienced significant growth in both annual revenue and number of employees since its founding in 2003. The company currently processes more than 16 million pounds of electronics for recycling each year, diverting that material away from the nation’s waste stream.

The Greater Washington Board of Trade selected its “Entrepreneur of the Year” based on the nominee’s demonstration of strategy, initiative, strength, creativity and resourcefulness in gaining success, as well as the candidate’s role as a pioneer in his or her industry and involvement in the community. The judging panel also considered the company’s growth in sales and success in gaining and retaining employees over the last two years.

“We built our company to fulfill an immediate need in the Greater Washington area for proper electronic recycling,” said Michael Keough, president, E-Structors. “We have worked hard to prepare ourselves to meet the high demand we’ve experienced and we are proud of the success we’ve achieved. This honor shows we are making a significant contribution to the Greater Washington economy and community.”

As the Greater Washington Board of Trade “Entrepreneur of the Year,” Keough is now eligible for the Small Business Administration’s “Metropolitan Washington 2009 Small Business Person of the Year,” to be awarded in May.
